“Music, that is the science or the sense of proper modulation, is likewise given by God’s generosity to mortals having rational souls in order to lead them to higher things.” -Saint Augustine
We are excited to officially announce the beginning of the SJPII strings program for grades 1-5. Miss Monica Daos, our music teacher, will be leading all children in those grades twice a week learning how to play the violin through the time-tested Suzuki Method. This will not supplant the choral part of music, but rather complement it.
Many thanks go to our long-time volunteer, Patty Scasny (Grandma Patty), who has been instrumental with advice and guidance for instrument purchasing!
Miss Daos said, “The Suzuki Method is based on the principle that all children possess ability and that this ability can be developed and enhanced through a nurturing environment. All children learn to speak their own language with relative ease and if the same natural learning process is applied in teaching other skills, these can be acquired as successfully. I look forward to a wonderful year with your children.”
We hope that all the students grow deeper in love with the music, beauty, simplicity and versatility that a strings education through the Suzuki Method offers.
