Chesterton Academy Student Speaks to School Experience
Chesterton Academy of St. John Paul II Classical School welcomed our first class of ninth-grade students back in the autumn of 2021. Every year thereafter, we have added one grade level until we will celebrate their very first group of graduating seniors in spring 2025!
We embrace their motto Cultura Vitae, the culture of life. In this way, we heed Christ’s call to have our fullest life in Him. This intentional joy for life and learning is imbued in our classical curriculum with a strong emphasis on the development of Christian virtues and an appreciation of beauty.
New Chesterton Academy student Grace agrees, and recently shared the following about her experience at our school:
“Chesterton Academy has done so much in my life. I just started at this school and I have already seen so many changes in my own life. I have been pushed to learn more about my faith and who I am as a child of God. I am lucky enough to be able to include God in everything I do throughout every day at school and we always make sure that God is never put second.
Our daily routine, which consists of going to daily mass and praying before every class, has helped me to grow into a deeper relationship with Christ. I can also say that between the teachers who truly care about every student and the friends who never [exclude] anyone, the people at this school are truly amazing. I would honestly, with my whole heart, recommend this school to anyone who asks. The people that I am now surrounding myself with are not just looked at as just a group of friends, but they have become a family.
When I go to Chesterton Academy, I feel like I am where I’m meant to be. I genuinely love my school.”
We are so happy Grace is loving her experience at Chesterton Academy thus far. Many pleasant memories are yet to be made!
Teacher Spotlight: Brenda Devroy
Mrs. Devroy has been teaching Montessori preschool at St. John Paul II Classical School for the last four years. She has been instrumental in building a strong preschool program here and leading the children to a greater understanding of virtue. Mrs. Devroy loves to cook and bake and enjoy time with friends. Most importantly, she has an extremely caring heart and shows great love toward her students.

Second Annual Spring Concert
We would like to invite you to Chesterton Academy’s second annual spring concert!
It will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on 1412 Main St., in Luxemburg on Friday, April 21. Doors will be opening at 6 p.m. with the concert beginning at 6:30 p.m. No RSVP is needed. We can’t wait to see you there!

Student Spotlight from Chesterton Academy
We would like to take a moment to spotlight a new freshman at Chesterton Academy, Theresa. She is an aspiring physician and our robust science curriculum is sure to aid her greatly in that endeavor. However, you see her here in her studio art class because classical education develops whole people, not specialized workers. Like all our students, God has gifted her with many talents both seen and unseen. With our diverse and rigorous curriculum, those talents can become fully realized.

Resurgence in Classical Education Piece Featured in The Compass
Headmaster Alex Wolf recently composed a column in The Compass highlighting the importance of classical education.
“The purpose of Catholic classical education is simple. It is to better know, glorify and ultimately enjoy God,” writes Wolf in the piece, “This happens through the study of the great academic traditions, in the form of curriculum and teaching methods, handed down to us through Western civilization. If education is altered to dissolve this tradition, or removes God altogether, the result is pure confusion.”
He discusses the significant return to classical education in depth and the reasoning for it. Patrick McKeown, headmaster at Chesterton Academy, also weighs in.
“People are re-imagining and rediscovering what can be loved, understood and embraced from the enormous depth of not only Western civilization, but from the church herself who has long been civilization’s greatest champion. In that manner, Chesterton schools cultivate holy students that are articulate, clear-thinking, well-rounded and, very importantly, joyful individuals engaged in a content-rich curriculum,” adds Mr. McKeown.
